Hygrophila balsamica (Hygrophila balsamica)
Hygrophilus was imported from India, namely from the beautiful islands of Sri Lanka. This delicate, unusually beautiful plant with a bright green color will undoubtedly become an excellent decoration of any aquarium, which is why experienced aquarists choose it.
It prefers to grow in a warm tropical climate and the slightest temperature change negatively affects the balsamic hygrophile. If the temperature drops below 20 0C, then soon the plant will become dark, and the foxes will fall.
Everyone would definitely like to have a hygrophil in their aquarium, but the problem is that buying it is quite problematic. Therefore, you have to try pretty hard, but the result will certainly justify the effort. It should be borne in mind that the plant prefers a quiet life in a large space. Because of this, a large aquarium is needed to maintain it. Hygrophilia can grow up to 70 cm in length, and if it does not have enough space, it will begin to secrete poison, and other aquarium plants may die due to this. For example, balsamic hygrophil is grown emersively in nurseries.
The plant is very tender, has a thin stem on which bright and beautiful leaves grow. If this algae lacks iron, it will quickly begin to fade, the leaves will become pale and lose their luster. At home, growing is relatively easy. Hygrophila balsamica does not require special conditions of detention, but at the same time there should be enough light and a regular supply of oxygen. For the full development of daylight hours should be at least 10 hours. If you do not create these conditions, then over time the plant will lose its attractive appearance, the stem will become very thin, which can lead to the death of the plant. It is also worth remembering regular fertilizing with fertilizers, which will contain iron.
As for the soil, there is complete freedom, and all because the hygrophil has very few roots and they are weak. It can be either coarse pebbles or fine sand with a thickness of not more than 6 cm. The plant also reproduces quite simply. On the adult maternal bush, many small processes appear. When they grow a little and several leaves form on them, they can be separated. In addition, there is another way of reproduction, using one leaf. To do this, you just need to cut off one, the largest leaf from an adult plant with a sharp knife and put it into free swimming in the aquarium. And after 2-3 days, small roots will appear on it.
Sunlight is good for hygrophile. During this period, the plant begins to actively grow, multiply, and the color of the leaves will become saturated and a beautiful glossy shine will appear. He does not like too stagnant water, so in the aquarium it needs to be changed about 2 times a month.
If there is not enough natural light, you can use artificial light, a fluorescent lamp is suitable for this. The water in the aquarium with this plant should not be too hard (up to 14dH) and acidic (5 to 8). The most suitable temperature for comfortable growth should be from 20-280FROM.
The most beautiful hygrophile will look in the "Dutch" aquarium, it will be not only correct, but also beneficial. In this case, you can demonstrate your exotic beauty to friends and relatives. Despite the fact that the plant is quite difficult to buy, but if you make an effort and spend your free time searching, you will surely succeed. And in the future, the plant will transform your aquarium and daily will delight with its beauty the owner and inhabitants of the aquarium.
