Cryptocoryne aponetocellular (Cryptocoryne aponogetifolia)
This kind of cryptocoryne is perhaps one of the most beautiful. Cryptocoryne aponetolistic has corrugated leaves of a pale green color. It is recommended for growing in large aquariums, as the plant can grow up to 1 m in height. Due to its decorative qualities, it is suitable for creating plant landscapes. But you also need to take into account all the difficulties of growing, since cryptocoryne apo-hetaceous is a rather picky plant.
Maintenance and care
This variety of cryptocoryne is a tropical plant, so it is suitable for growing in aquariums with temperatures from 23 to 30 0C. In addition, there should be good lighting, 0.5 W l and daylight hours of at least 12 hours. The acidity of water is from 5 to 8, with a hardness of 8 to 13.
Cryptocoryne can also be planted in the paludariums, but its appearance will change. Leaves will become shorter and more oval. Keeping conditions do not differ from aquarium.
This plant does not like a sharp change of water, especially with regard to acidity, so you need to add fresh water gradually, for example, 1 time per week, 1 of the total volume. It is necessary that the water to be added has approximately the same hardness as in the aquarium. If this is not done, then the leaves of cryptocoryne will become soft and simply fall apart. The same applies to all varieties of these algae, except cryptocoryne blassa.
She does not like the neighborhood with other green spaces, especially if those interfere with her growth. If the aquarium lacks natural light, then it is better to plant fast-growing algae in it. And when there is plenty of sunlight, it is recommended to choose floating, small-leaved algae.
Choosing the right lighting for this kind of cryptocoryne will be quite problematic. First of all, incandescent lamps (with a power of 1.2 W l) cannot be combined with fluorescent ones. But besides artificial lighting, it should be a little natural, but if there is too much sun, the cryptocoryne will become covered with silt and will simply die. You can not allow a long stay in the shade. The most comfortable for cryptocarina aphonogenous is scattered light.
At a temperature below 23 0From the plant leaves begin to fall away, and new ones will be deformed. It grows very slowly, about 1 leaf in a few months. But already formed leaves quickly grow up and fill the surface of the water.
As soil, it is better to take river sand or small pebbles. In this case, it is necessary to maintain the same temperature both in the ground and in the water. Because of this, it is necessary to additionally install a bottom filter or heater. At the same time, it is better to put the aquarium on a heat-insulating material in order to retain heat as much as possible below.
Regardless of the habitat, cryptocoryne needs soil with a high content of organic substances. In old aquariums, you don’t have to worry about this since there will be a lot of silt in them, but in new ones, this is not. A good solution would be to put the soil from the old aquarium into a new one, but if this is not possible, then a little clay, charcoal and peat should be added to the new substrate. Cryptocoryne actively consumes all nutrients from the soil, as a result, there is no silt in the place where it grows.
Additional nutrition should also be taken with caution, since she does not like the high content of salt and sodium ions in water. It is best to make mineral top dressing no more than 1 time per week in minimal amounts.
